Clarity at the Deathbed

I guess stories like this are fairly typical but when I
heard this at a conference,(I apologize because I cannot remember the
source or even the exact conference), it rocked my life.

A very old woman had severe Alzheimers for many years and yet she had
remained generally healthy. Her family did not cope well with her
condition and there was much infighting especially amongst her two
sons. When it finally became apparent that she was in her final days
the family did manage to come together around her. One afternoon they
were sitting at her bedside arguing as usual, when she suddenly sat up
and in a very clear voice and manner started giving them very specific
instructions about how to handle her will and arrangements...her
instructions also implying that she was totally aware of how they had
been fighting, that they had to stop and that she would not tolerate
it any more! The brothers were absolutely shocked and humbled. It had
been several years since she had even spoken. How could this be
possible?

In any case, she spoke authoritatively, and after several minutes she
laid back down and passed away shortly thereafter.

How much we do not know about the mystery of life! But we should know
and learn to treat every being with courtesy and repect at all times.

The being may be fully intact and present even though the body is not
so.

To the teller of this story my thanks, many years after.
